In HOLIDAY HITMAN, government assassin, Levi Cox, has escaped certain death when he’s mistaken for Rev. Jimmy while outrunning the antagonist’s henchmen while in a bus terminal.
After taking advantage of the mistaken identity and here at the beginning of Act 2, Levi must now maintain his cover while mingling with a passel of church goers eager to meet their new padre.
INT. CHURCH BASEMENT FELLOWSHIP HALL – CONTINUOUS
Levi, clutching the satchel and a cookie, is surrounded by
parishioners.
A “Welcome Reverend Jimmy!” sign hangs on the wall above
homemade posters about BINGO NIGHT and the annual LIVE
NATIVITY AND BAKE SALE.
Farmer Herman — beefy hand outstretched — approaches Levi.
HERMAN
Sheep. It’s always been sheep.
Herman Edgar Becker at your
service, Rev. Jimmy.
Farmer Frank hustles over, extends his hand too.
FRANK
Frank Harris, Pastor. It’s my turn.
Levi sees MADDIE near the cookies.
LEVI
Yeah, sure. Who’s she?
FRANK
A goat.
LEVI
A what?
FRANK
A goat. It’s time we use a goat.
Levi starts toward Maddie. A chubby SYLVIA PARKER (20s)
blocks him.
SYLVIA
Rev. Jimmy! Finally! We meet!
He chomps the cookie.
SYLVIA (CONT’D)
I enjoyed your letters so much,
Pastor!
LEVI
Huh-huh.
SYLVIA
I can’t believe you’re marrying me!
Phftht! A chunk of cookie flies out of Levi’s mouth as he doubles over, choking.
Sylvia pounds his back to clear his windpipe.
SYLVIA (CONT’D)
I know! I’m excited, too!
More choking! She pounds his back some more.
FRANK
(calling out)
Can we get this man some water?
(to Levi)
Don’t you worry, Pastor. I know
mouth to mouth.
Levi shoves past them. Still gagging.
REGGIE FISH (20s), who’s built like a brick outhouse, blocks
his way. Menacing.
Reverting to hitman mode, Levi takes Reggie down. Just as
fast Reggie flips him over. Pins him to the carpet.
Herman, Frank, and Sylvia stand over them, smiling wide.
SYLVIA
How did you know, Rev. Jimmy?!
Reggie stands, pulls Levi to his feet, slaps him on the back.
REGGIE
I appreciate your spirit, Rev. Jimmy!
FRANK
Reggie was the county’s wrestling
coach of the year three years
running.
SYLVIA
Four years running.
She takes Reggie’s arm.
REGGIE
We can wrestle some more, if ya
like, Reverend. Come to the high
school after my guys’ practice.
Reggie steps closer to Levi.
REGGIE (CONT’D)
Like Sylvie says, we’re looking
forward to being your first wedding
in our little church Friday night.
(whispering)
Sorry we don’t have time for pre-marriage
counseling. Sylvie and I have been reading
books, though.
HERMAN
And what did your books say about
living in sin?
SYLVIA
How’s that wife of yours, Herman?
Oh, wait, she took off with — who
was it? The bank manager?
